Flower in the Crannied Wall
This sculpture was designed by both Frank Lloyd Wright and Richard Bock for the Susan Lawrence Dana House (1902) in Springfield, IL. The original design was executed in terra cotta and was a naturalistic rendering of a female nude rising from a floral geometrically abstract column. The Lord Tennyson poem, which it was named after, is engraved on the back. The sculpture represents the human attempt to understand nature and the universe. Made by Haegar Pottery. Overall size is 23" by 6" at the base.
