School/Student Tours

A class visit to Monona Terrace is a wonderful introduction to the work of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who lived most of his life in Wisconsin. The tour complements curricula in several disciplines, including state and local history, and art and design.

On a guided tour, students will explore...

  • how the building fits into its setting, drawing inspiration from Lake Monona and the architecture of the State Capitol
  • simple geometry in the design of building and furnishings
  • how Wright changed the way people experience buildings with open floor plans and views of the outdoors

  • Student admission is $2, Dane County students are $1. Teachers and chaperones receive complimentary admission. There must be at least one adult chaperone for every 10 students on the tour.

The tour lasts approximately 1 hour.

Sorry, there are no indoor lunch facilities at Monona Terrace. Our rooftop and nearby Olin Park are available for picnics.

Monona Terrace is handicapped accessible; special accommodations are available upon request.

For more information or to make reservations, contact the Tourism Coordinator at (608) 261-4015 or hsabin@mononaterrace.com. We look forward to sharing Monona Terrace with you and your students!
